In order to meet the specialized needs of housing cooperatives NCHF drafted a Model Cooperative Housing Societies Law, which has been approved by the Ministry of Law and the then Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation. The above Model Law has been sent to State Governments and Union Territory Administrations for adoption, keeping in view the local conditions and requirements. The States of Delhi, Goa, J&K and Madhya Pradesh have included a Special Chapter on Housing Cooperatives in their existing Cooperatives Societies Acts.
